Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau Announces Financial Meetings are Back

Business Wire, June 9, 2011

40,000-Plus expected to attend Primerica Convention

Financial meetings were among the first casualties of the economic downturn. Now, those meetings are returning. Ranking as Atlanta’s largest corporate convention for 2011, Primerica Inc.’s Convention returns to Atlanta June 15-18, bringing with it 40,000 attendees and more than $44 million in direct economic impact to Atlanta, according to the ACVB.

2009 proved a challenging year for the financial industry. During that time, Primerica remained financially strong and profitable, but at the time it was a subsidiary of a large bank and had to cancel its 2009 meeting. Since going public in a 2010 IPO, the Duluth, Ga.-based company has continued to thrive and with its new independence, Primerica announced in 2010 its commitment to again holding its convention in Atlanta. In the first quarter of 2011, the company reported $276.4 million in total revenues and $52.5 million in net income.

“As a native Georgian, it makes our return to Atlanta as a ‘refounded’ public company, with a 34-year track record in Georgia, even more exciting.” said John Addison, Primerica co-CEO. “Beyond our strong Georgia roots, our convention is international in scope – we will have representatives attending from all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico.”

In all, more than 40,000 Primerica representatives will attend to further their education, receive advice and motivational tips from some of the company’s most successful representatives, and finally, be awarded and recognized for their Primerica accomplishments in front of their peers on the Dome stage.

The convention’s workshops, meetings and exhibits will utilize all three wings of the Georgia World Congress Center. Along with these more targeted workshops, there will also be three General Sessions, each with 40,000-plus attendees at the Georgia Dome.

“It’s great to have Primerica back in Atlanta,” said Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau CEO William Pate. “We knew financial conventions would be back, once things settled down. Now, we’re happy to see that business segment returning with a long-time customer, Primerica, leading the way.”
