Primerica announces new CEO, president

Less than two years after Primerica moved into the largest office space in Gwinnett, the company announced on Sunday a change to its top leadership role, and that it will be held by one person.

Glenn Williams, the company’s president, was promoted to chief executive officer and elected to the board of directors, effective April 1.

Current co-CEOs John Addison and Rick Williams (no relation to Glenn) will continue with the company and will remain on the company’s board, though their specific roles were not announced. Addison will continue to serve as chairman of Primerica Distribution, while Rick Williams will continuing as Board Chairman.

Peter Schneider, the company’s general counsel, has been promoted to president, also effective April 1. He will remain as general counsel for the foreseeable future.

The rest of the company’s executive team will be Alison Rand, who has served as chief financial officer since 2000, and Gregory Pitts, who will continue as chief operating officer.

Rick Williams has been with the company since 1989 while Addison has worked there since 1982.

Glenn Williams, 55, began his career with Primerica in 1981 as a member of the company’s sales force. He joined the home office team in 1983.

In 1985, Williams moved to Canada as part of Primerica’s international expansion team, where he spent 15 years in roles of increasing responsibility. He led Primerica Canada as president and chief executive officer from 1996 to 2000. In 2000, he returned to Primerica’s Duluth headquarters as executive vice president of field and product marketing for international operations. In 2005, he became president of the company.

A native of Stockbridge, Williams is a graduate of Baptist University of America, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in education.

Schneider, 58, has served as the company’s executive vice president and general counsel since 2000 and as chief administrative officer since 2010. Earlier in his career with the company, Schneider has been responsible for compliance, government relations, media relations, human resources and initiatives to grow sales. Schneider received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Relations and law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Primerica is one of Gwinnett’s largest employers with about 1,700 employees.
